Waterlogged Saturday riders to Willington

Writer's picture: David OlneyDavid Olney

6 ventured out on a water logged Saturday ride to Winnington. Julian had forgotten his helmet and then got a puncture within the first 2 miles so called it a day riding with the group. Grit, rain, mud and puddles didn’t deter us and we made it safely to the cafe. Shortly after the cafe Mark‘s crank snapped and it was lucky that he didn’t get hurt. It also slashed his back tyre and so was an end to his ride too. We were now down to 4 and were grateful to have an uneventful journey home as the sun came out.

The roads are grim at the moment Chris. You have to choose between pot hole or mud and some cases you don’t get a choice. Difficult to see the depth of hole with all the water.
