From the outset, the group had mixed abilities and speeds and it was soon evident that holding back and waiting for all was the recipe for the day, obviously, The Club ensured all the group collected together at convent times and at the top any steep inclines. As the temperature headed north many riders’ energy levels headed south with several splits developing. All was good though and everyone arrived at Stretton Farm Café together. Coffee and cake were accompanied by a frosty cold beer, which was much welcome and made a nice change.
After leaving the cafe elastic bands snapped, joined and snapped again, matches were burnt and eventually the inevitable split in the group was seen that was never to be brought back together.
We all wished for a hot summer but the sudden increase in temperature proved too much for some.
All was good and several riders headed for the event of the day the Belper BC Hill climb.
