On a pleasant autumn day, a group of riders set out from Belper, with a destination of Denstone Hall Farm Shop. Two rides were planned, one for experienced riders and one for intermediate riders, both ultimately going to the same cafe stop.
Pretty soon, the groups' speed started to ramp up and as the ride headed up Hazelwood Road, the elastic band snapped early. Obviously, the experienced group could comfortably handle the split and proceed into two distinct rides.
The ride was fraught with ‘danger’ as the local farmers had been cutting the hedges and scattering debris across the road, which unfortunately caused one of the team to puncture. However, after 7min and 30 seconds later (not inc. hunt the QR end), we were back in the game, and several miles down the road, the cafe brought a welcome break where friendly staff served us and we enjoyed some delicious food and drinks.
On the way back, we encountered more debris on the road, and the same rider had another puncture, There was some frustration over the use of an air canisters resulting in discussions regarding electric pumps and the thoughts on buying one for the next ride. (Anyone experienced using one?)
Yet again a great ride and group support. What more can you ask on a Saturday ? Good times.
