8 riders set out on the ‘Experienced’ route today, but we lost Steve D who took a left instead of a right and the search party had no chance of finding him. A quick message to make sure he was safe and we carried on to World Peace cafe at the Buddhist Centre. First part of the route was hilly and even after 1 hour of cycling we were still in touching distance of Belper. The cafe was a welcome site and we sat outside in the sunshine. Great food and service but don’t expect a bacon sandwich. We set off, intrepid that we were still several miles from the half way point but a tail wind whooshed us down the roads towards Aston On Trent. We paid for this later when we had to battle a strong headwind on the final 12 miles back to Belper. Great fun and good company today with a good turnout considering 2 other rides were happening today.
