Lucky 13 riders to Melbourne Hall

A fabulous morning and a super ride to Melbourne Hall. All riders did the long route and the 13 riders quickly divided into 2 groups. The cheeky Shaw Lane climb warmed everyone up early on into the ride. The fast group quickly got into their stride and disappeared into distance at a fair rate of knots. PRs a plenty were achieved by the front group but unfortunately they were going so fast missed some of the more scenic bits. The more sedate group enjoyed the Cloud trail and the lovely climb to Breedon-on-the-Hill church. Views from up there are amazing - we also had to wait for one of our group to emerge from the confessional booth (this did take a while). We also tried to play a trick on Dave when he had a short break - like giggling children we hid from him not realising that we were in full view and he watched our every move (I don't think we will make the hide and seek Olympic squad!!). It was great to see our other group at the cafe who were just leaving when we arrived. After exchanging pleasantries and taking a few piccies they went on their way and we were ready for a feed. The cafe laid on a fab spread, Dave Adams fuelled beautifully - going for his now famous weekly 3 course spread. A lovely romantic moment was witnessed too when Emma carried back a piece of Rolo cake for her other half. On the way back we met up with Mickleover BC who were on their way back from Sudbury - we had a nice tow and chat before heading back home. Thank you all for the top ride and great company.
