Eventful Saturday ride to Denstone

A mild morning saw 13 riders set off from the Triangle on a nice lumpy route The group kept together fairly well until a gravelly muddy lane with potholes fetched one of the riders off. Cuts and grazes and a broken brake lever meant it was the end of the ride for this rider. The group carried on only for a few chain offs and a snapped chain which was soon repaired. On the way back an impatient driver brushed past the group on a narrow lane and caught a riders arm nearly pushing them off. A puncture for a rider near the end sealed the day. Apart from the incidents this was a great social ride today.

Thirteen souls headed out this morning and were immediately greeted with a headwind down the A6. However, within a moment, we hit Duffield, turned up Avenue Road, and rose to Hazelwood. The roads were clear until we hit the country lanes after Mugginton, where cars and lorries made way for water, mud and farm yard detritus, meaning that mudguards were a must for the day; foolish were the ones without and to the back of the peloton they must go………..

Unfortunately, it was one such mud and water patch that caught one of the group out, who went down with a mighty bump, making a jolly ol' mess of himself, his bike and his attire. I'm sure he'll be at…
