SPORDAX 9  DONE!

90 riders 4 groups!

Another banger!

It was a chilly 6 degrees when we met at the Triangle for a 7.30am start for the longer road ride. A excellent number of 20 riders signed up for the long road ride which is a Spordax record. After the obligatory photo shoot we divided up into 2 groups: a slightly faster group (ok! ok! a much faster group) and our beautifully formed inters paced group. We were joined by a newcomer, Brian who just happened to be on holiday in the area and after seeing the event on one of our media streams, thought it would be a good idea to join us. He particularly enjoyed the challenge of climbing Derbyshire hills and thoroughly embraced the day. Our group comprising of 7 tackled the terrain admirably and after a few well timed stops emerged triumphant at the TLC cafe. It was great to see Karolina and her speedy posse who passed us on the way to the cafe where we had a lovely catch up. It had been quite an epic journey to the cafe but by now we had broken the back of the ride. Adam and staff at TLC did us proud - laying on lots of steaming coffee, delicious hot food and scrumptious cakes. One certain member of our group who shall be nameless managed 3 courses before hoovering up a friends cake - top fuelling!! The undulating 50km ride back from the cafe was enjoyed by all and after Adrian's 5th costume change we arrived victorious at the Dev. The Dev did not disappoint - they laid on a superb spread of chili, rice and probably the best chips I have ever tasted. It was brilliant to catch up and share stories with everyone from the different rides. Thank you all so much for making this another exhilarating and memorable day

19 riders started out from Markeaton Park for an off-road jaunt to Prestons Cafe in Ashbourne.  Despite being warned about a potential water feature which could result in wet feet, one of the riders decided to take a much closer look.  Prestons was great cafe, sitting outside in the sunshine - excellent bacon cobs and coffee.  One group reportedly missed the cafe first time round, realising when they heard the Osmaston church bells for the second time.  They did return for well earned refreshment.  Route came back through Osmaston Park with a challenging steep loose ascent and the Great Northern Greenway back to Markeaton Park before meeting up at the Dev for food, beer and tales.
