Routes for Belper BC trip to Masham 2022

Reeight ‘ard 1 https://www.strava.com/routes/2915617000203524514

(69.57mile 6399ft)

Head from Masham crossing the River Nidd at Summerhouses and then the climb up Darce Banks upwards to ridge with great views of Thruscross reservoir. From here up towards Greenhow before the decent into Grassington (maybe best option for a Café if you want one).  Leaving Grassington along the Wharf valley towards Buckden and then up and over Kidstones Pass leading to the long decent of Bishopdale. The final sting in the tail is the climb of Witton Steeps

(68.06mile 5900ft)

Heading North from Masham turning west just before Catterick Garrison to reach Reeth. From here follow the Arkle Beck and then the final push up to Tan Hill Inn.   From here head back south to Keld and onwards into Swaledale.  Once back at Reeth reward yourself in the Dales Bike Centre before one more climb up out of Grinton brings you to Leyburn and a steady run back to Masham

(66.04 mile 2027ft)

Heading south from Masham to Ripon picking up National Cycle Route 688 to take you out into the Vale of York winding around quiet country lanes on a largely flat ride heading north towards Thirsk (loads of food options in the market place -  just off the route) before heading for home.

Al’ reeight 2 https://www.strava.com/routes/2915629738885978530

(64.67mile 3096ft)

Head north from Masham toward Catterick, passing the racecourse before picking up the River Tees before finding the delightful farm shop at West Rounton about 2/3 of the way around.  After suitable refreshment head for Northalleton and onwards to Masham

Al’ reeight 3 https://www.strava.com/routes/2729408762683799458

(45.77mile 3483ft)

A bit of a café ride – head up towards Catterick Garrison and onwards to Richmond. Leaving Richmond alongside the river Swale which you will cross to get to Marske and a bit of a tester before arriving at the Dales Bike Centre (this climb can be avoided - stay on main road and follow signed for Reeth).  Leaving the DBC follow the route for a ‘gentle’ ride back to Leyburn and onward to Masham – or if you fancy a challenge – as you cross the river Swale-  rather than following the road left go straight ahead  up the hill – at the fork just after the cattle grid – straight on for Grinton Moor climb or take the right for the slightly harder  Greets Moss – follow the road signs to get you to Leyburn where you picjk up the route again.

Reeight Easy 1 https://www.strava.com/routes/2712620368299474596

(25.97mile 2165ft)

A really nice 25 mile ride-  taking you down to Ripon before Studley Royal (you can ride right through the grounds, traffic free) and Fountains Abbey (food in visitors centre if you want to stop and eat) and then a steady ride back to Masham
